Message from the President
March 2010
Whew! What an incredible and much needed President's Day weekend. The weather was perfect, there was a lot going on in town, and we had plenty of visitors to share it with us. To top it all off, Valentine's Day fell right in the middle of the three-day weekend.
And just when we thought it was over...Mardi Gras!
The Palm Springs "vibe" was back. One could feel the energy permeating all over town. There were crowds. There was traffic. Restaurants and bars were full. Locals and guests were all out enjoying what Palm Springs has to offer.
Let's hope the naysayers were paying attention. Palm Springs is a great place to live and visit in spite of what they tell us.
Crime is down in Palm Springs. The economy is showing signs of life again. We're not out of it yet, but it seems like the worst is behind us.
On another note, be sure to check out our CEO's new blog at www.palmsprings.com/business. John is writing weekly articles about business in Palm Springs. There's a rumor that he's also working on a social networking presence for the chamber.
Here's my plug for the 2010 census. Make sure you're counted. Money received from the Federal Government is based on the population of our city. Wouldn't you like to see some of the tax dollars you send to Washington come back here to your local community? The census form is short and simple. It's designed to take just a few minutes of your time. Please take those few minutes and be counted!
