A Time For Giving
This section lists charitable activities for the season, including "Toys for Tots" drives, holiday meals for the homeless, fund raising drives, etc. If you know of any Charities seeking volunteers for activities, please let us know
Toys for Tots
Collecting toys for disadvantaged children during the holidays has become a signature event of the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center This year will be no different as they celebrate the 60th Anniversary of its Toys for Tots drive. The 2006 Toys for Tots Campaign was a resounding success, collecting more than 53,000 toys for distribution to 37,000 children throughout our desert communities. Toys for Tots distributes new, unwrapped toys to children up to 18 years of age each Christmas. The best donations are sporting goods, toy cars/planes/boats, dolls (Barbie, J. I. Joe, etc.), board games, books, bicycles, scooters, puzzles, models, hand-held video games and small electronics. Please do not donate stuffed animals, they are difficult to keep clean and can create hygienic problems. Also, toy guns, knives, bows/arrows, whips, and handcuffs are not accepted. Christmas December 25
The Well in the Desert’s Holiday meal for the homeless and less fortunate. It will be served 11:00am-2:00pm. Presents will be given out to all children and Santa will visit as well. To help out, please contact 760-327-8577.
